When Stand By Me finished production Jerry O'Connell who played Vern Tessio in the movie, was informed by his father not to tell anyone about the movie because it was never going to be released and nobody was ever going to see it. The movie turned out to be one of the greatest of all time, but Jerry's father made sure he was always aware of the possibility of failure
