England batsmen once again headlined the day as their captain Joe Root led from the front to help the tourists post 555 for 8 at the end of the play on day 2 of the opening Test against India at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday (February 6). Root - who has been in phenomenal touch in the red-ball cricket in 2021 - continued his purple patch and slammed his fifth double century in Test cricket. The exceedingly talented right-handed Yorkshire batsman displayed yet another batting masterclass as he scored 218 off 377 balls before he was dismissed by Shahbaz Nadeem.


साफ़ और आसान शब्दों में कहा जाए तो चेन्नई टेस्ट मैच का दूसरा दिन भी इंग्लैंड के ही नाम रहा. जहाँ चाहा वहां इंग्लैंड के बल्लेबाजों ने रन बनाए. और मजे से बनाए. भारतीय गेंदबाज एक बार फिर निराश लौटे. पर तीन सत्रों में पांच विकेट चटकाने में टीम के गेंदबाज कामयाब जरुर रहे. इंग्लैंड के बल्लेबाज इस समय 600 रन करीब हैं. दो विकेट बचे हुए हैं. और छह सौ रन से मात्र 45 रन दूर है. दूसरे दिन इंग्लैंड की टीम ने कप्तान जो रूट के दोहरे शतक के दम पर 8 विकेट पर 555 रन बनाए. खेल खत्म होने के समय डॉम बेस 26 जबकि जैक लीच 6 रन बनाकर खेल रहे थे. पहले दिन के स्कोर 263/3 से आगे खेलते हुए इंग्लैंड की टीम ने दूसरे दिन जल्द ही 300 रन पूरे किए. जो रूट ने 260 गेंदों में 150 रन पूरे किए.
