ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಚೆನ್ನೈ ತಂಡದ ಅಮಾನತು ಹೊರತು ಪಡಿಸಿದರೆ ಎಂಎಸ್ ಧೋನಿ 2008ರಿಂದಲೂ ಚೆನ್ನೈ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ಐಪಿಎಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಂಬಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಧೋನಿ ಐಪಿಎಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 150 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಸಂಭಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದ ಆಟಗಾರ ಎನಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
