The Andrew Eborn Show - TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER with Serious Child & Andy Ruddy

‘Talk About The Weather’ is a project by two singer/songwriters from different generations and musical backgrounds, who set out to explore what unites people of different age groups in British contemporary music.

Talk About The Weather, is about the difficulties of talking about how we really feel in difficult times. With traces of Paul Simon, the song moves from flat to flat in a single apartment block, as people meet, and… talk about the weather.

“The song came directly out of our experiences of lockdown. We wanted to talk about all the people of different ages living behind locked doors and what was happening to them. We felt that despite everything, when they met, they’d end up talking about the weather rather than how they felt.

The song starts with taking out the bins and trying to avoid meeting a conspiracy theorist who lives down the corridor. It moves past the young family with kids bouncing off the walls, to the old lady who has fallen out of her chair and lain alone for hours. We felt that whatever our age and difficulties, we’d connect through talking about the weather, and that this was the British way.

We didn’t consciously sit down to write about lockdown, but I guess it was inevitable that the topic would come up. I know some songwriters have deliberately decided to stay away from such themes, as they might feel hackneyed, but it felt important to write about how we’re all feeling.”

Charles Spencer "It’s rare to find an interviewer who’s done such a phenomenal amount of homework - thank you @AndrewEborn
for such a dynamic interview. "

"Quite simply, Andrew Eborn is a genius. Despite having fingers in more pies than Mr. Ginster, he manages to juggle all his interests and epitomise success. Entrepreneur, TV host, magician and bon viveur, I'm not sure how he measures failure as he's never failed at anything - but if you want advice on how to succeed Eborn's the man."

" Brilliant buzzing & fun!" Ed Hood
