125-Year-Old Olympia Beer Is Being Discontinued (At Least for Now)

An iconic, century-plus-old beer brand is being discontinued…at least temporarily. The official Olympia Beer Instagram account posted that the classic brew is sadly saying "farewell for now.".A major part of Olympia's decline has been the dilution of its original vision.Decades ago, the beer's slogan was "It's the water," but the Tumwater brewery has been closed since 2003.After ownership started cycling through multiple hands, the brand finally landed with Pabst in 1999.The last batches of Olympia were reportedly being brewed in California. That left the brand with only sentimental vestiges of its Pacific Northwest roots. But the beer's legacy isn't gone forever. Olympia Distilling Company in Tumwater has tapped into some of that former glory. And the new distillery has left the door wide open that brewing beer may be part of their business again
