Three national festivals have been announced in India. First - Independence Day - 15 August, Second Gandhi Jayanti - 2 October and Third Republic Day - 26 January. The Constitution of independent India was enacted on the same day in 1950 by removing the Government of India Act (1935). This constitution was prepared on November 26, 1949. The date of implementation of this was elected on 26 January, because on this day the Indian National Congress (INC) declared India as Swaraj.

भारत में तीन राष्ट्रीय पर्व घोषित किए गए हैं। पहला-स्वतंत्रता दिवस-15 अगस्त, दूसरा गांधी जयंती-2 अक्टूबर और तीसरा गणतंत्र दिवस-26 जनवरी। 1950 में इसी दिन भारत सरकार अधिनियम एक्ट(1935) को हटाकर स्वतंत्र भारत का संविधान लागू किया गया था। यह संविधान 26 नवंबर, 1949 को तैयार हुआ था। इसे लागू करने की तिथि 26 जनवरी इसलिए चुनी गई, क्योंकि इसी दिन भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस(INC) ने भारत को पूर्ण स्वराज घोषित किया था।
