MOSES THE LAST VICTORY AND JERICHO - The Old Testament ep. 22 - EN

  • 3 yıl önce
Endless wandering, hunger, thirst, the hostility of neighboring people, as well as seeing older generations pass away take their toll on the people of Israel as they wait to enter the land of Canaan, the land promised by the Lord to Abraham and his sons. But the delay forges a new people with new leaders who will take over when Moses, Aaron, and the other patriarchs go to meet the Lord. There are still people among the tribes who complain, grumble and scheme. The great caravan is constantly in danger of being attacked by a host of enemies. But the Lord watches over them, meting out punishment, console, defense, and leadership, as they make their way towards their destiny. Canaan is near, and scouts sent out to spy on the Promised Land return with quantities of magnificent fruit. They report that a fertile land awaits them… The people celebrate and thank the Lord. However, Aaron passes away, for he was denied this moment of triumph due to his lack of faith. Moses is still the leader of God’s People! "He went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo to the top of Posgah which is opposite Jericho.” From the summit, the Lord shows him the Promised Land. But that is as far as Moses can go. He can see the Promised Land, but he cannot enter it. His mission is over. The great messenger of the Lord, the leader of the people of Israel is buried on the plains of Moab and is mourned for thirty days. His tomb is never to be found. The death of Moses within sight of the great walls of Jericho is the final event of the Exodus. Joshua is now the new leader of the children of Israel. He takes the great caravan into the Promised Land on the other side of the River Jordan, and lays siege to the walled city of Jericho, the impregnable stronghold of the Canaanites region.

"In the beginning"... with these words the Bible begins the story of the great mystery of the origins of time, existence and the history of the Universe. It also contains the proclamation of the Word of God, invisible and omnipotent, creator of heaven and earth, who turns once more to his people with the promise of the salvation which man has awaited since the moment of his creation and of his first sin...This is the subject of the "most widely-read book in the world" from which, in thirty-nine episodes, we evoke characters and events so that young people of the new generations can appreciate the richness of this great treasure.
