Why American cities have so many pigeons
American cities are as much a place for people as they are for pigeons. Our leftover pizzas, bagels, and donuts provide an endless supply of food for these birds. Plus, we feed them. City buildings also mimic the natural seaside cliffs in pigeons’ native range — North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe — making them feel right at home.
