An outstanding performance with the bat on the final day helped India secure a well-earned draw in Sydney. Vihari and Ashwin showed stubborn resistance to ensure no more wickets fell in the final session. India were going for the 407 target at one stage when Pant and Pujara were at the crease but hopes of an Indian victory diminished after Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood sent them packing respectively. But the 6th-wicket stand just blunted all chances of an Australian victory.


भारत और मेजबान ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच चार मैचों की टेस्ट सीरीज का तीसरा मुकाबला सिडनी क्रिकेट ग्राउंड पर खेला गया। सोमवार 11 जनवरी को मुकाबले का आखिरी दिन था। पहले सत्र की शुरुआत में ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम आगे दिख रही थी, लेकिन पहले सत्र के खत्म होने के बाद ड्राइविंग सीट पर भारतीय टीम थी। एक समय ऐसा लग रहा था कि भारत ये मुकाबला जीत सकता है, लेकिन दूसरे सत्र में जैसे ही रिषभ पंत और चेतेश्वर पुजारा के विकेट गिरे तो फिर भारत ने इस मैच में हार टालने की ठानी। भारत के 5 विकेट गिर चुके थे। क्रीज पर हैमस्ट्रिंग से जूझ रहे हनुमा विहारी और आर अश्विन थे। दोनों ने करीब 250 गेंदों का सामना किया, लेकिन विकेट नहीं गंवाया। इसी के दम पर भारत ने मुकाबला ड्रॉ कराया।
