Arnold Schwarzenegger Compares US Capitol Attack To Nazi Violence, Calls Trump Worst President Ever
  • 3 years ago
Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appealed for unity on January 10 after the violent attack on the US Capitol. He described it as an attempted coup by President Donald Trump, drawing comparisons to Nazi Germany. In a video posted on Twitter that quickly went viral, the Hollywood star compared the attack by Trump supporters to Kristallnacht, or the "Night of Broken Glass," when Nazis carried out pogroms in Germany in 1938 that included breaking the windows of Jewish-owned stores. Schwarzenegger called President Donald Trump a failed leader who “will go down in history as the worst president ever”. Schwarzenegger said that Trump’s presidency was coming to an end and “would soon be as irrelevant as an old tweet”. During the video, which runs for more than seven and a half minutes, Arnold Schwarzenegger likened American democracy to the sword he brandished in his early role as Conan the Barbarian, which he said only grows stronger when it is tempered. He called for national unity & vowed his support for President-elect Joe Biden after mobs loyal to Donald Trump broke into the US Capitol, causing a temporary suspension of the electoral count.
