Ian McKellen Says He Is ‘So Happy’
Elliot Page Came out as Transgender.
In a recent interview with ‘Attitude Magazine,’ Ian McKellen
offered his support and praise to 'X-Men' co-star Elliot Page.
Page, who recently came out as transgender,
worked alongside McKellen in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’
and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’.
During the interview, McKellen described how Page’s
mannerisms on set changed over the years.
I remember Elliot Page, in one of the
‘X-Men’ ... Nobody could hear what
they were saying ... And then they
came out [as gay] years later and
suddenly you couldn’t stop them
talking. You heard everything, Ian McKellen, to 'Attitude Magazine'.
McKellen then expressed disappointment in himself for
not realizing that Page was struggling with his identity. .
And I’m so happy for Elliot. And so
disappointed in myself that I didn’t
detect what their difficulty was
with communicating, Ian McKellen, to 'Attitude Magazine'.
Page came out as transgender in December on social media,
posting that it felt “remarkable” to “finally love who [he is].”.
The more I hold myself close
and fully embrace how I am,
the more I dream, the more my heart
grows and the more I thrive. , Elliot Page, via Instagram
