Dodgers Legend, Tommy Lasorda, Dead at 93.
Tommy Lasorda died on
Thursday night at age 93
after suffering a heart attack
at his home in California. .
Lasorda made his MLB debut with
the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954. .
He later coached for the now-Los Angeles
Dodgers from 1973 to 1976, before becoming
manager of the team. .
Lasorda led the Dodgers to four National League
pennants and two World Series titles. .
He retired in July 1996 and was inducted
into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
That same year,
the club retired
his uniform, No. 2.
Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten
released a statement praising Lasorda's
“Dodger spirit” after news of his death.
In a franchise that has celebrated
such great legends of the game,
no one who wore the uniform
embodied the Dodger spirit as
