One can achieve Narayana through Safala Ekadashi Vrat. Ekadashi, which falls in the Krishna Paksha of Pausha month, is on 9 January this time. This fast is considered to be salvation. But for its completeness it is necessary to do night awakening in the fast. Not only this, fasting of Ekadashi of any one in the family also destroys sins like Sumeru of many generations. If we observe the fast of Safala Ekadashi, then it starts from Dashami. That is why one should eat only once on the night of Dashami.On Ekadashi, Narayan should be worshiped with incense, lamps and sweet fruits etc. according to the season. सफला एकादशी व्रत के माध्यम से नारायण को प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। पौष मास की कृष्ण पक्ष में आनेवाली एकादशी इस बार 9 जनवरी को है। यह व्रत मोक्षदायी माना जाता है। किंतु इसकी संपूर्णता के लिए व्रत में रात्रि जागरण करना जरूरी है। यही नहीं परिवार में किसी एक के भी एकादशी का व्रत करने से कई पीढ़ियों के सुमेरू सरीखे पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं। सफला एकादशी का व्रत देखा जाए तो दशमी तिथि से ही शुरू हो जाता है। इसीलिए दशमी तिथि की रात में एक ही बार भोजन करना चाहिए। एकादशी के दिन धूप, दीप व मौसम के अनुसार मीठे फल आदि से नारायण का पूजन करना चाहिए। द्वादशी तिथि के दिन स्नान करने के बाद जरूरतमंदों को अन्न,गर्म कपड़े और प्रतिष्ठा अनुसार दक्षिणा देने के बाद ही प्रसाद ग्रहण करना चाहिए। शरीर स्वस्थ हो तो किसी तीर्थस्थान-चित्रकूट, प्रयागराज, हरिद्वार, वृन्दावन-बांके बिहारी, अयोध्या, उज्जैन आदि में व्रत करना अति शुभ फल प्रदान करता है। जो व्रत न कर सकें, वे कम से कम चावल न खाएं और आज के दिन ब्रह्मचर्य रखें। जानें सफला एकादशी व्रत कथा ।
