Schools Reopening Across India: Update On Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, UP, Maharashtra & Others States

Schools across the country are reopening after remaining closed since March. Schools in Punjab will reopen from January 7 only for students from Class 5 to 12, the state government said in a statement. Schools and pre-university colleges in Karnataka reopened for students on January 1 with strict COVID-19 safety norms. Kerala government had allowed state schools to resume Classes 10 and 12 from January 1 onward but the Central University of Kerala began holding classes from January 4. Bihar reopened schools from January 4 for Classes 9 to 12. Nearly 88 per cent schools for classes 9 to 12 reopened in Maharashtra by January 4, with over 15 lakh students physically attending schools daily. Rajasthan government has announced that schools, colleges and other educational institutions will reopen in the state from January 18. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on January 6 said that the government is brainstorming on how early schools can be reopened in the national capital. States including Assam, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Sikkim had already reopened their schools on January 1.
