The PM-CARES fund set up for Covid donations is "established by the government" and therefore a public entity, the centre has said in a new RTI reply that appears to contradict its own recent claim on its website that the fund is private. In the reply, the government says PM-CARES is a body "owned by, controlled by and established by the government of India" but does not come under the RTI or Right to Information law as it receives private funds.

पीएम केयर्स फंड से जुड़ा विवाद थमने का नाम नहीं ले रहा है. एक RTI के जवाब में ये जानकारी दी गयी है कि पीएम केयर्स फंड कोरोना काल में सरकार द्वारा स्थापित एक सरकार निकाय है. इसके बावजूद में चंदा देने वालों के नाम देने से इनकार कर दिया गया. ऐसे में सवाल उठता है कि अगर ये फंड सार्वजनिक है तो फिर RTI के दायरे में क्यों नहीं. इसपर सरकार का कहना है किकि पीएम-केयर्स भारत सरकार का, उसके द्वारा स्थापित और नियंत्रित संस्थान है.
