People who arrived from the United Kingdom (UK) in Mumbai on December 22 morning were sent for sent to institutional quarantine in the wake of the new coronavirus strain. People who came to receive them said, "Government should have informed us before. Didn't passengers board flight after being permitted by authorities?”

Flight services from the UK to India have been suspended from 11:59 pm on December 22 till December 31 over the spread of a new strain of coronavirus in London & England. Maharashtra imposed an 11 pm to 6 am night curfew from December 22 till January 5 in Mumbai & other cities.

State government announced new quarantine rules for arrivals from the Europe & Middle East, in view of a fast-spreading strain of coronavirus that has emerged in the UK. Over 500,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine have been given to people across the United Kingdom to protect those most at risk from coronavirus. On December 20, Prime Minister Boris Johnson informed the people that a new variant of COVID-19 virus has been found in the UK.
