Grubhub released its annual reports called “Year In Food” that gathers food trends based on the millions of orders placed throughout the year on the platform.
Grubhub compared the orders placed between 2019 and 2020 and can tell what type food became more popular.
In 2019, an increase in plant-based orders was noticed but 2020 was all about comfort food. The dish that has known the higher rise in popularity is the spicy chicken sandwich, it’s more than 318% more than last year!

The delivery service revealed that one user actually ordered for 135 chicken sandwiches throughout the year. A true chicken lover!
The report also revealed another fun fact like the largest order placed was for 300 bean burritos or that the holiday with the most food deliveries was Halloween.
Grubhub also made public the top orders for breakfasts, late night or dessert in 2020 and once more, it’s all comfort food, but people were keen to start the day healthy with an açaï bowl, but for late night, the most ordered dish was strawberry chicken and French fries has risen its popularity by 629%.
2020 has been tough but thanks God, food is here to get through the year!
