Having identification under capitalism has always been about tracking and access... but it's also more than clear that it's about further criminalizing lack of said access.

October 2021 (not 2020, since that already passed) is when all states must be 'in compliance' with the real ID act. If you choose not to get a real ID card, in order to travel and go into federal buildings, you must use a passport (or passport card).
