Residents in Ethiopia’s impoverished northern region of Tigray, where recent fighting has reportedly killed thousands and displaced many thousands more, are also battling food insecurity, compounded this year by the coronavirus pandemic and the worst desert locust infestation in decades. Some residents said they are growing desperate, begging from neighbours and serving their children boiled water just to get something warm in their stomachs.
