Tristan Thompson INJURY UPDATE for Celtics Opening Night
  • 3 years ago
One of Payton Pritchard’s left fingers popped out at Celtics practice on Saturday. The Celtics rookie joins a staggering preseason injury list for the Celtics, already down three players in Kemba Walker, Romeo Langford and Tristan Thompson.

Brad Stevens hopes Pritchard returns soon after Boston’s trainers repositioned his finger after practice. The severity of a finger dislocation determines the missed time. Boston plays Philadelphia in its first preseason game on Tuesday before hosting Brooklyn next Saturday.

“They were able to place it back,” Stevens said. “Hopefully his timeline to return to practice will be sooner rather than later.”

While opening night seems within reach for Pritchard, Thompson is uncertain as he continues to sit out with an offseason hamstring injury. He is only participating in simulated two-on-two and three-on-threes to make offensive reads before practice. Stevens provided no timetable for his return.
