Goa’s shack owners erect shelters only to save their licences
  • 3 years ago
Shack owners in Goa said that they have erected their shacks only out of fear that their licences could be cancelled as per the beach shack policy. Speaking to ANI, the president of All Goa Traditional Shack Owners Association, Manuel Cardozo said, “Due to Covid-19, the situation is very bad this season. Shacks mostly cater to foreign tourists but forget about foreign tourists, there are hardly any domestic tourists this season. Only shacks in Calangute Beach and Baga Beach are doing business because of domestic tourists.” “Majority of shack owners do not want to put up their shacks. They have erected shacks out of fear because if they will not put it up this year, they will not get licence next year,” he added.
