विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज पार्थिव पटेल ने संन्यास की घोषणा करने के बाद बुधवार को कहा कि दिग्गज भारतीय खिलाड़ी अनिल कुंबले के साथ उनके पहले टेस्ट कप्तान सौरव गांगुली सही मायनों में नेतृत्वकर्ता थे और क्रिकेट के अलावा जिंदगी में भी उनपर इन दोनों खिलाड़ियों का काफी प्रभाव रहा है, इस 35 साल के इस खिलाड़ी ने 18 साल के अपने क्रिकेट करियर को अलविदा करते हुए कहा कि गुजरात के लिए घरेलू क्रिकेट के लगभग सभी खिताबके अलावा तीन बार आईपीएल चैम्पियन बनने के बाद आगे बढ़ने का यह सही समय है।

Parthiv Patel announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday.The Indian southpaw made his Test debut under Sourav Ganguly at the age of 17.In a career spanning almost two decades, Patel had the honour to play competitive cricket under the leadership of formers skipper Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni and current Indian captain Virat Kohli.
