former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Santhosh Babu, who is well known for his work in Chennai, on Tuesday joined the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in the presence of party founder and chief Kamal Haasan. The actor-turned-politician also lend support to the ongoing farmers' agitation against the controversial farm laws recently passed by the Centre.

Santhosh Babu is a decorated IAS officer who took Voluntary Retirement earlier this year despite having eight years left to his service. According to reports, he was unhappy with the pressure being put on him by state departments regarding some government tenders.
