Japan is still failing to acknowledge its subjection of Koreans to forced labor at its industrial sites during World War Two... despite a promise to do so when they were designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in 2015.
That's according to diplomatic sources in Seoul.
They say a report Japan submitted this week to UNESCO on the ways that it's implementing the promise... shows no improvement.
In fact, they say the Industrial Heritage Information Center in Tokyo... displays documents aimed at showing that Koreans were not discriminated against, and it fails to honors the Korean victims.
UNESCO has recommended a dialogue, but Japan refuses to talk with South Korea about the issue.
One of the sites is the notorious Hashima Island... where a large number of Koreans were forced to work to support Imperial Japan's war machine.
