IRCTC and Indian railways Tatkal booking."Tatkal" literally means 'immediately'
Tatkal booking starts one day in advance (reduced from 2 days) excluding the day of journey e.g from a journey on 3rd booking would open at 10:00 am on 2nd : however, the day of journey is defined as the day of chart preparation .
Can I cancel tatkal ticket? : Yes you can cancel tatkal ticket but no refunded will be granted on cancellation of confirmed tatkal ticket. For contingent cancellation and wait listed tatkal ticket cancellation, charges will be deducted as per existing Railway rules.
What is the timing of tatkal reservation ? Login into the IRCTC website 5-10 minutes ago and do these before 10:00am for ac ticket and 11am for non-ac ticket . Select origin destination, choose date as today's date and enter ticket type and click on "Find Trains' Now select quota as tatkal and click on Book Now for today's date for any trains
