After years of studying medicine, one would think that getting a hospital placement would be reason to celebrate. But, it seems the hospital you get placed in is just as important. Medical students are allegedly paying thousands of rands to swop hospital placement posts. Some are even said to be auctioning their placement to help pay off student loans.
