After the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, J&K is now gearing up for the District Development Council elections amid heavy security blanket. Additional troops have been drawn for security and it is being reported that candidates were being taken away to cluster accommodations after filing their nominations for perceived threat to their lives.
