President Reagans Remarks to the NBA Basketball Champions the Boston Celtics

On June 13, 1984, the World Champion Boston Celtics visited the President Reagan at the White House but some key members of the team held out.

Presidential Boycott in Reagan’s 1984? You got that right but, but for the reasons you may think...

In a March 2017 look back by the Boston Globe, Dan Shaughnessy perfectly summed it up, “in today’s 24/7 culture of social media, hot takes, and political polarization, it’s kind of refreshing to look back at a time when Red’s cigar was just a cigar, and nobody really cared that Bird, Robert Parish, and Cedric Maxwell skipped the trip to the White House.”

So, here’s the sites, sounds & scenes of a White House Boycott that went mostly overlooked and without outrage from the media.

Side: Red lit a cigar on the White House lawn, how cool is that? Lol.
