Deepavali festival holds the most special place among the major festivals of India. This five-day festival of lamps decorates the whole of India. On this festival, door-to-door shines, house-to-house glows, and every heart, every relationship is decorated with the company of loved ones. The festival of Diwali is of five days and begins with Dhanteras. There are 2 stories in our religious texts about Dhanteras - The first is the story of Lord Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda. The second story has the sweetness of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu.

भारत के प्रमुख त्योहारों में सबसे विशिष्ट स्थान रखता है दीपावली पर्व। दीपों का यह पांच दिनी पर्व पूरे भारत को सजा- संवार देता है। इस त्योहार पर द्वार- द्वार चमक जाता है, घर- घर दमक जाता है और अपनों के मेल से हर दिल, हर रिश्ता संवर जाता है। दीवाली का त्योहार पांच दिनों का होता है और इसकी शुरुआत होती है धनतेरस से। धनतेरस को लेकर हमारे धार्मिक ग्रंथों में 2 कहानियां मिलती हैं- पहली कथा है आयुर्वेद के जनक भगवान धनवंतरि के प्राकट्य की। दूसरी कथा में देवी लक्ष्मी और भगवान विष्णु की नोंक- झोंक की मिठास है।
