A black panther that escaped from its owner in 2019 in the French city of Armentières and that was then stolen is believed to be living in a big cat sanctuary in the north of the Netherlands, where she has been taken in by Stichting Leeuw (Lion Foundation). Animal associations say the panther now called Akilla has the same features as the one from France, while French authorities are still waiting for the results of a DNA test to confirm her identity.
