Amy Coney Barrett Set to Be Confirmed
to Supreme Court on Monday.
President Trump will secure a political victory as Amy Coney Barrett is set to be confirmed to the Republican-controlled Senate.
The final vote is to take place at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Only 51 votes are needed for Barrett to claim her seat on the Supreme Court.
According to an administration official, a swearing-in ceremony will take place either late Monday or Tuesday.
Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
called the confirmation “an inerasable stain on
this Republican majority forevermore.”.
He also attacked the prospect of Vice President Mike Pence presiding over the vote since several of his staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
Many Democrats believe Barrett's confirmation will lead to the demise of the Affordable Care Act
