Cough Droplets Can Travel

could be at a greater risk of being exposed.

Surgical masks are known to be effective at trapping large droplets and therefore recommended for

Researchers simulated the trajectory of droplets from a person who coughs outside while another person listens nearby.
Different droplet sizes, air temperatures, relative humidity, wind speed and distances between the cougher and listener were simulated.
In some instances, particularly at higher
wind speeds, a 100-micrometer droplet
was able to travel about 22 feet.
However, the results are somewhat
limited considering they are simulations rather than real-life experiments.
