The World Senior Citizen's Day is celebrated on August 21 every year. The observance was proclaimed on December 14, 1990, by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The day was celebrated for the first time on October 1, 1991. World Senior Citizen's Day is celebrated to increase awareness about the issues faced by older adults in their day-to-day life.
