Despite Haryana government’s ban, stubble burning takes place in many parts of the state. Over 120 cases of stubble burning have been reported so far. The Delhi government on October 14 shared NASA satellite images depicting large-scale stubble burning in the capital and nearby areas. Stubble burning is a post-harvest practice and is aimed at clearing fields. A local said, “The environment is getting polluted. But the farmers don’t have the equipment to control it.” Punjab CM, Captain Amarinder Singh said to stop stubble burning PM should give Rs 100 extra per quintal on the produce to the farmers. “Few incidents of stubble burning have come to light. If we have to stop stubble burning, then the Prime Minister should give Rs 100 extra per quintal on the produce to the farmers,” said Amarinder Singh.
