Dramatic scenes unfolded in Bengaluru on March 18 as Congress leader Digvijaya Singh was lifted and dragged away by the police. Digvijaya Singh was taken into preventive custody from outside a five-star hotel where he sat in protest. 22 rebel Madhya Pradesh MLAs have been staying in the hotel for a week now. Digvijaya Singh was allegedly stopped by the police from entering the hotel. Resignation of MLAs loyal to former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who quit last week and joined the BJP, has endangered the Congress government led by Kamla Nath in Madhya Pradesh. The speaker has accepted the resignation of six Congress MLAs and the party now has 108 legislators. The BJP has 107 seats in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. The assembly strength now is 222 and the majority mark is 112.
