With India under a 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus cases, the country’s unorganised sector labourers have come under immense strain to put food on the table. The Central government has announced some measures to provide relief to the poorest in the country. Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a press briefing to announce measures ranging from an increase in the per/day payment given to MNREGA workers to allowing withdrawals from EPF accounts for up to 3 months.
