Coronavirus cases in India saw a sharp rise with 240 cases being reported from across the country in the past 12 hours alone. This brought the total COVID-19 cases in the country to 1637. Of this, there are currently 1466 active cases, 47 deaths and 133 persons have been cured and/or discharged. The rise in numbers were reported after multiple cases were reported from Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi which was hosting members of the Tableeghi Jamaat. Meanwhile, the death toll due to coronavirus crossed 42,000 worldwide and the number of cases rose to over 8.5 lakhs. The U.S., Italy and Spain are the worst-affected countries due to COVID-19.
