Pooja Bedi has been at the centre of a controversy after she tweeted about the unhygienic conditions at a quarantine facility in Goa. Recently, Bedi and her fiancé Maneck Contractor drove to Goa from Mumbai. Bedi was criticised for calling the facility & screening process as not an ‘acceptable way of life’. She was also criticised for describing Contractor as Goan, and for travelling amid a lockdown with no good reason. After being slammed for criticising the measures taken to control the spread of the coronavirus, Bedi shared an inside video of the quarantine facility. In a separate video message on Instagram, Pooja Bedi explained at length that she & Maneck Contractor had abided by the rules while travelling. She also dwelt on his ‘Goan’ identity and said he has documents, including an Aadhar card and passport, with an address in Goa. Bedi also mentioned in the video that Goa is her home and wrote that she refuses to be a soft target for embittered, jealous, fearful & narrow minded people. Pooja also appealed to the Goans to be kind and not discriminate against those coming into the state from outside. Bedi also said that she intends to settle down in Goa and is a ‘Goan by heart’. Pooja Bedi is the daughter of actor Kabir Bedi & late dancer Protima Bedi. She has appeared in films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and Vishkanya. Bedi's daughter, Alaya with ex-husband Farhan Furniturewalla, is an actor too.
