SpaceXs Crew Dragon Launch With NASA Astronauts Scrubbed Due To Bad Weather, Next Chance On May 30
  • 3 years ago
SpaceX and NASA’s landmark launch to the International Space Station was scrubbed on May 27 due to bad weather. It was the first crewed mission to blast off from the American soil with American equipment after nearly a decade. With NASA astronauts Bob Behnken & Douglas Hurley strapped into the Crew Dragon capsule, the launchpad platform retracted and rocket fueling underway, Elon Musk’s SpaceX made the call to abort the mission. “Unfortunately, we are not going to launch today” Mike Taylor, launch director said, with less than 20 minutes to go until takeoff. The launch has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 30 at 3:22 pm. If successful, it will be the first time that such a feat is performed by a privately-owned company. It would also end a nearly 10-yearlong US dependency on Russia for seats to space. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were in Florida for the launch but returned to White House once it was called off.
