Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa Clarifies, Says Fewer Flights From Five COVID-19 Hit States, No Ban

Karnataka has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to reduce the number of incoming flights from five states namely Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh & Rajasthan. However, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa tweeted explaining that there is no ban on flights and trains coming to Karnataka after earlier reports said that the state has asked for a complete ban on flights from these five states. Restrictions have been imposed for people coming by road from the States of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu & Gujarat. The train services will function as is. Quarantine for incoming people in the state is also posing a problem. As per data released by the Union Health Ministry, Karnataka so far has 2418 cases, 781 people were cured and 47 lost their lives. While the numbers have been low when compared to other states, it has spiked due to people coming from other states & countries. Over 24 hours ending on the morning of May 29, 118 of the 135 new cases reported, were people who had travelled into the state.
