US COVID-19 Survivor In Seattle Receives A Whopping $1.1 Million Hospital Bill After Discharge

70-year-old American man who nearly died of COVID-19 has been billed a whopping $1.1 million for his hospital expenses. As reported by Seattle Times, Michael Flor was admitted at the Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah on March 4, and stayed there for 62 days. Flor, at one point come very close to death that nurses held up the phone so his wife and children could say goodbye. But Flor recovered and was discharged on May 5 amid the cheers of the nursing group. However, he did not know that he will receive a 181 page bill amounting to a whopping $1,122,501.04, Flor told Seattle Times. Reportedly, Flor is covered by Medicare, a government insurance program for the elderly, and should not have to pay from his pocket. But in a country where health care is among the most expensive in the world and the idea of socialising it remains hugely controversial, Flor said he feels "guilty" knowing that taxpayers will bear much of the cost.
