Six Dead, 17 Injured In Boiler Blast At Neyveli Lignite Power Plant In Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu

A boiler explosion took place at a thermal power plant in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu on July 1. Six people died & 17 suffered burn injuries in the fatal accident. M. Sree Abhinav, Cuddalore Superintendent of Police confirmed the number of deaths to ANI. Blast took place at a power plant of the central government-owned NLC India Limited (formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) in Cuddalore, about 180 km from Chennai. This is the second blast at the power plant in two months. All those injured were rushed to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai. Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to inform that he spoke to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Condoling the deaths, CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced a relief of Rs 3 lakh for families of those who died, Rs 1 lakh for the severely injured & Rs 50,000 for those with less severe injuries. In May this year, eight workers at the power plant suffered burn injuries in a similar incident.
