The French government has taken a strong stand against the radical Islamic elements in the country after the beheading of history teacher Samuel Paty by a Chechen-born refugee. French Police launched raids at some mosques in the country. The crackdown has invited criticism as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron needed “mental treatment” for displaying “religious intolerance. The government moved to crack down on what it described as Muslim extremists, detaining more than a dozen people, closing a Mosque and targeting some Islamist support groups. Macron’s pledge to crack down on radical Islam contributed to Erdogan’s remarks about his mental state. There has been a massive outcry over French President Emmanuel Macron's criticism of the killing of the teacher and his decision not to "give up cartoons" depicting Prophet Mohammed. Social media is on fire with videos and calls to boycott all French products. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan joined Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in criticising French President Emmanuel Macron for his recent comments on Islam.
