It was only two months after the discovery of the COVID 19 outbreak in China , World Health Organization (WHO) issued its report. In another two months, on March 11, the WHO declared COVID 19 a human-to-human pandemic. During these six months, COVID 19 has spread globally and destabilized people from all walks of life.
Headquartered in Geneva, WHO aims to ensure that everyone in the world is healthy enough to function effectively economically and socially, with a focus on the well-being of people around the world.Currently 194 countries are members.WHO has been working with the United Nations and other affiliates.The United States contributed 15% to the WHO in 2018 and 2019. The WHO needs additional funding during this corona pandemic.
Among Americans, who make up only 4 percent of the world's population, Americans make up a quarter of the world's deaths caused by corona. Trump has been the top critic of the WHO for his outbreak of disease and death in the United States. Since April, the US has said it will sever ties with the WHO and provide financial assistance to other public health organizations operating worldwide if the WHO does not improve its position within 30 days. Because of the Chinese government's recklessness, today the world is plagued by corona. Trump has backed up his argument that the WHO is listening to China
The US exit from the WHO may face setbacks in maintaining global health and disease management in the years to come. Members must notify the WHO of their resignation one year in advance. Accordingly, the US decision to withdraw from the WHO will take effect on July 6, 2021.Countries such as Germany and the UK have announced that they will work with the WHO on vaccination for covid19, and that they are not leaving the WHO.
