Vajpayee birth anniversary:
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several union ministers on Wednesday paid tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 95th birth anniversary. BJP veteran L K Advani, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and members of Vajpayee's family were amongst those who paid tributes to the BJP leader.
National Population Register (NPR):
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved Rs 8,500 crore for updating the National Population Register (NPR). The meeting was held to consider a proposal to earmarking funds for updating the NPR which is a list of "usual residents" of the country.

Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday categorically stated that there is no link between the process of National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC)."NPR is the register of population, NRC is a register of citizens. There is no link between the two and they have different processes," says Amit Shah
