Nine different forms of Maa Durga are worshiped during the nine days of Navratri. Paan has special significance in worshiping Goddess Durga. According to religious beliefs, it is said that Mother Durga consumed honey-filled betel leaves before the slaughter of Mahishasura on the Dashami date of Ashwin Shukla Paksha. That is why paan is offered in the worship of Mata Rani. Rani is very dear to Mother Pan.

नवरात्रि के नौ दिनों में मां दुर्गा के नौ अलग-अलग रूपों की आराधना की जाती है। मां दुर्गा की आराधना में पान का विशेष महत्व होता है। धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार, कहते हैं मां दुर्गा ने आश्विन शुक्ल पक्ष की दशमी तिथि के दिन महिषासुर के वध से पहले शहद भरे पान के पत्ते का सेवन किया था। इसलिए माता रानी की पूजा में पान चढ़ाया जाता है। पान माता रानी को अत्यंत ही प्रिय है।
