Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue marked the 89th anniversary of its establishment on Monday.
A commemorative mass and a variety of celebratory events were held around the statue.
Cakes were given out to those who came to celebrate as well as tourists, and gifts were handed out to children.
The statue, completed in 1931 after 9 years of construction, stands 38 meters high, and 30 meters wide.
The COVID-19 pandemic had forced its closure in March, but it has been reopened since mid-August.
