On International Day of the Girl Child, in Andhra’s Anantapur district, schoolgirls aged 11 to 16 years took charge as heads of various departments from village to district level. District Collector Gandham Chandrudu said the initiative was taken as a step to instil confidence in young girls to strive for their right to fair representation of women in public administration, politics, science and other fields.
