Belarus protests enter ninth week, as President Lukashenko meets political opponents in jail

Protests have continued in the Belarus capital of Minsk for the ninth week since August 9, 2020. The demonstrations against President Alexander Lukashenkoanti began with anger about recent election results which declared a landslide win for the leader who has been in power since 1994.
