Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Ruling Worker's Party, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un delivered a speech that was unprovocative and with no mention of the U.S.
There was also a rare glimpse of his emotional side while addressing some of the hardhips the regime has endured throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Korea on Saturday unveiled its new intercontinental ballistic missile, which could be capable of holding multiple warheads...according to experts.
On Saturday, the regime showcased its new weapon at the 75th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party,... marked as tradition goes with a large-scale military parade.
The new weapon is believed to be an upgraded and enlarged version of the Hwaseong-15 missile, which experts say may be able to reach the U.S.
Also on display was a new type of submarine-launched ballistic missile.
Presiding over the event was leader Kim Jong-un whose speech was mostly unprovocative with no mention of the U.S.
"I do not want our military might to be aimed at anyone. I stress that the purpose of our war-deterrence efforts is self-defense."
In a rare show of emotion, the leader shed a few tears, addressing the many hardships North Korea has had to face throughout 2020...and thanked his people for their unwavering support.
"One cannot help but shed tears of gratitude seeing the patriotism and heroics of the People's Army in defending the nation against the virus and natural disaster."
The head of state also left words of encouragement for South Korea, revealing hopes of restoring their recently strained relationship.
"To my beloved compatriots in the South, I look forward to firmly holding hands with you once again as soon as this health crisis has been overcome."
Despite the world's media speculating that the regime has been struggling with the pandemic, Kim also told those present that nobody in North Korea has fallen victim to COVID-19.
